Discover Puddingstone Place

Puddingstone Place is one of those rare gems that feels like it’s always been a part of Callander’s charming landscape. Nestled at 120 Main St, Callander FK17 8BG, United Kingdom, this restaurant blends comfort and taste in a way that makes you want to return time and time again. It's more than just a place to grab a meal; it’s where you go to feel like you’re a part of the town's fabric.

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The interior has a lovely rustic charm with wooden beams and cozy booths that give it a homey, yet refined feel. There’s something about the environment at Puddingstone Place that makes you feel right at ease, whether you’re popping in for a casual lunch or celebrating a special occasion.

The menu is a delightful showcase of locally sourced ingredients, offering a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes and preferences. One of the standout features is the restaurant's commitment to using seasonal produce, which means the menu constantly evolves to reflect the freshest ingredients available. This not only guarantees a diverse dining experience but also gives guests a taste of the region’s best offerings.

For starters, you can’t go wrong with the creamy leek and potato soup. It’s a hearty and satisfying dish, perfect for those chilly Scottish days. The soup is rich and velvety, with a hint of fresh herbs that enhance the flavors without overpowering them. It’s a simple dish done right, and it sets the tone for the meal ahead.

If you’re craving something a little more substantial, their grilled salmon is a popular choice. Cooked to perfection, the fish is tender and flaky, with a crispy skin that adds an extra layer of texture. Paired with seasonal vegetables and a light drizzle of dill sauce, it’s a dish that beautifully balances both flavor and freshness. The salmon is always impeccably prepared, making it a crowd favorite among regulars.

But let’s not forget the star of the show: the puddings. Puddingstone Place truly excels in this department, offering a variety of desserts that will satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth. The sticky toffee pudding is a must-try-moist, rich, and paired with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s the kind of dessert that sticks with you long after you’ve finished it, leaving you with a sense of contentment that only the best comfort foods can provide.

For those who prefer something lighter, the fruit tart is a fantastic option. With a buttery, flaky crust and a delicate filling topped with fresh berries, it’s a refreshing way to end your meal without feeling too indulgent. Each bite is a perfect blend of sweetness and tang, and the quality of the ingredients shines through.

While the food is undoubtedly the main attraction, the service at Puddingstone Place deserves a mention too. The staff here is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome and are always ready with recommendations if you’re unsure about what to order. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, the service never falters, which is why Puddingstone Place has earned such a loyal following.

In terms of location, 120 Main St is ideal. Situated in the heart of Callander, it’s within walking distance of several local attractions, making it an excellent spot for a meal after a day of exploring. Whether you're taking a stroll by the River Teith or visiting nearby landmarks like the Callander Crags, Puddingstone Place is the perfect place to relax and refuel.

  • Perfect place to stop for brekky on our drive from Edinburgh to Oban. The breakfast rolls are a good size for a light snack, but if you have the small Scottish breakfast you can enjoy a little of everything… that might’ve been the best bacon I’ve ever tasted! Excellent flat white too. Friendly staff and a crackling made for a lovely visit.

  • Randomly picked from Google for a quicke bite to eat & a coffee. Didn't dissapoint. Right on the main road through, plenty of on road parking. Nervously tried haggis for the first time. One bite and nerves evaporated. Really tasty haggis and cheese paninni. Went down a treat. Lovely coffee to follow. Nicely decorated and lay out inside. Service was fast and friendly.

  • Such delicious food and a cozy, homey atmosphere! The carrot soup was hands down the best I’ve ever tasted, and the bread that came with it was perfect for dipping. I really hope I get to come back one day just to enjoy that amazing soup again!

  • Got to review the places I want to be able to find again if I'm in the area. Welcoming, warm service, which makes you feel right at home. Fair prices for pretty good food in huge portions. Haddock and chips were standout- crispy (both the fish and the chips) without being greasy. Also the biggest hand cut chips I've come across. No complaints on the creamy mushroom starter, and beef lasagna is always a safe order. The beef burger was standard- so much so that one of our party switched her burger with someone else's chicken panini. Happy to have found a great lunch stop on our way through Callander, especially as our party enjoyed it even more than the award-winning places they tried yesterday (and commented that the quality of the haddock and batter was better!) Would revisit for the fish and chips.

  • My lunch (which was a special of tender, moist, and flavorful roast turkey, herbed stuffing, fried and roasted baby golden potatoes, and assorted veg - some fried sweet potato sticks, brussel sprouts, naturally sweet steamed carrots, and rotkuhl) was unbelievably good. I felt like a kid again and inhaled it - even though the portion was enormous! Well worth the trot down to the end of the Main Street. Needs to be ranked higher in reviews! The waitstaff was also lovely and I was sorry to have to leave so quickly.

  • We’re on holiday and this is the third country we've visited — and hands down, this has been the best food we've had so far! Every dish was incredible. My friend Jon said he’ll be dreaming about that gravy for weeks! The owner even came out to check in on us, and our servers were absolutely fantastic. Thank you for such a memorable and authentic Scottish feast!

  • Amazing restaurant in Callander. We stopped by on our Highlands road trip and were amazed by the food and service received here. Fair prices and very generous portions. We really recommend the Halloumi fries and the steak pie, but everything was fantastic. Absolutely recommend.
